Pros

- Fast paced hosting company - Can absorb a lot of hosting knowledge quickly - Looks good on a resume

Cons

- Management uses fear and intimidation to control employee performance - It is not uncommon for the CEO to march around the office looking for people to fire - Security cameras and microphones above every cube to monitor employees remotely - Cubes and keyboards are always dirty because they are shared - Flu and other airborne sicknesses are constantly floating around due to dirty environment - Promotions and raises are based on the friendships you make with the owner and his friends - No physical security in the building or the parking lot - Bathrooms were constructed for 10-20 person office, not a 300 person call center - Upper management and middle management fail to communicate well - HR employees are married to Managers - Job expectations are too high for the low salary

Lots of opportunities and a great atmosphere

Pros

- Excellent Benefits - Flexible Schedules - Company outings (ranch, paintball, etc.) - Free lunch provided daily by chefs - Relaxed atmosphere with no dress code A friendly atmosphere where all departments are working as a team and getting things done more efficiently. Members from supervisors or management are always willing to help with any issue, listen to any new ideas, and discuss any future employee/company plans to make sure everyone is headed in the right direction. The leadership at this company is truly awesome. All promotions or advancements are made within the company, and at the current growth rate, there are new opportunities that are opening up frequently. If you're willing to put the hard work in and take pride in your job, you will eventually be rewarded. One of the great reasons for the company's success is due to the majority of the employees that are willing to do what it takes to get the job done which in return has helped everyone with better benefits, greater pay, etc.

Cons

The company is continuously adding new faces to the team which is a good thing, but it seems that the building is getting a bit over crowded. At times, it is hard to find a spot to begin work. They are planning on opening a new office which may help with the situation, but I do believe the current office does require some remodeling in order to get additional space that could be used for a bigger gym, additional conference rooms, etc.

Pros

- Free Lunch Everyday - Up to 3 Weeks vacation - Up to 100% Health Insurance paid for - Casual Dress - Dual and Triple Monitor Work Stations (Awesome btw) - 2 Week detailed training classes - Paid $5,000 relocation assistance for me to move LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES!!!! You can see with all the new people they are hiring that this company is definitely on the move. They only promote from within for certain departments and positions (ie..sales, Security, supervisors, shiftleads). Because of this, there are lots of opportunities for advancement. They have made it a point that if I work really hard and put everything I have into helping the company grow that my efforts/work would be recognized and they would promote me. They are definitely an honest company because a year later they made me a supervisor and gave me a good salary. They have kept their word and have been very good to me as I have been to them. I have also seen them promote other employees the same manner. I love what I do. The job itself is awesome! I look forward to going to work every morning. I have worked at a few IT companies in the past but I always felt like a number to them. I feel that HG is still a small enough company that I can still make a big difference. They have treated me very well and have given me a lot of respect. Management tells me when I do good and when I don't. I appreciate that type of feedback. I love working for a company which prides themselves on the work of their employees. This does make the work environment a lil more stressful at times but I guess that is why HostGators customers have soo many nice things to say about them. I feel good working at a company where the customer actually enjoys the service they receive. I never thought I would be working for one of the best hosting companies in the world, let alone eventually be a supervisor at one. I have learned more in 1 year here than I could ever learned in college. The other employees here are really intelligent and I have gained a lot of knowledge by working with them. I used to be a customer of HostGator. I was ecstatic when they flew me out to Texas for my interview. A year and a half later, I still do not regret my decision. It was actually the best decision I have ever made. HostGator has changed my life and I will always remember that.

Cons

Once the company started getting big, the gym now seems out of place. They built cubes near it so when someone is on the treadmill you can hear it from outside the door. Their flexibility with their seating makes it so I can sit where ever I want so this is not really an issue to me. I usually like to sit near a supervisor anyway because they are really helpful. Who cares about working out at work anyway? I would rather go somewhere where there is a shower I can go in afterwards. I do see some people upset with management from time to time. I think it is a pretty big company now and they defiantly get their share of different type of employees. I myself seen a few of them try to take advantage of the awesome things this company does for people. The company has been hurt by some employees in the past so I understand why the concern for stronger supervision. I mean they do host millions of other peoples businesses and their reputation is on the line everyday. On the other hand this is a good thing because if you do good work that get recognized as well.
