Pros

There are great people who work at Hyatt and are very committed to doing good work and driving awareness and preference.

Cons

Sr. Leadership in the company has changed in the past cpl of years, particularly in marketing. The care and concern for employees has been replaced with a cold, abrupt and less than caring management style that takes a my way or the highway approach.

Pros

The employees are nice. The cafeteria is pretty good. The work wasn't challenging or time consuming so provided good work life balance (however the lack of challenging work I viewed as a con as well).

Cons

I worked at the corporate headquarters in a high level individual contributor role. Coming from a larger organization I was blown away with the poor systems, policies and attitudes . I found many of the processes to not be intuitive and to defy reality or logic however whenever I brought these things to the attention of my manager it was viewed as me being critical. Honest descent was not appreciated in the work environment. Additionally I was surprised at the degree to which I was micromanaged particularly given I had many years of experience not only in the industry but also in management roles. We did not have the flexibility to work from home as most people in our profession do and when we eventually did it resulted in IMs and phone calls which were obviously made to check up on me (because otherwise I would just not work??!?! very insulting). I found it very bizarre and didn't appreciate being treated like a front desk agent as a high level individual contributor manages there own time, due dates and work loads and don't need to be micromanaged. We were also delegated responsibilities many times based on senority! As opposed to looking at our strengths and individual areas of interest and assigning work accordingly. This I found particularly flabbergasting. Between the outdated systems, policies and inflexibility it was pretty frustrating and unbearable.

Pros

Depending on the hotel you can have a really fun team to work with. The travel benefits and opportunities for transfers are great.

Cons

Want a poor salary combined with equally awful hours? Then Hyatt is the company for you! Managers are worked like dogs and when I transferred after my second hotel I was offered a lower wage than I had been making before. I tried to negotiate, but was in a bad position to do so. Then at my next hotel I received a great review combined with a 2% raise. I was working until 2 am last night, spent many nights dealing with screaming upset guests, medical emergencies and had to evict people a couple times. I've was called every insult under the sun by drunk people and getting a raise comparable to inflation was the last stray. Goodbye Hyatt, I've been gone a year and don't miss you.
