During my career, I found myself shouldering numerous extra duties without any corresponding increase in compensation. It wasn't until after I moved on that I realized how disparate compensation can be across the same job title within the company, irrespective of the added responsibilities. Despite my aspirations to effect positive change, it became clear that the company prioritized superficial fixes over addressing deeper issues. Their actions underscored a lack of accountability and concern for their employees. I wasn't alone in shouldering tasks beyond my job description, but there comes a point where the lack of recognition, in terms of either pay or title adjustment, becomes untenable.
Transparency also seems to be a foreign concept here. Employees are consistently led to believe that merit increases and promotions are on the horizon, only to have those promises vanish into thin air without explanation. It's a frustrating cycle of dangling carrots in front of hardworking individuals, only to snatch them away at the last minute.
Despite claims of financial strain to keep up with the industry, the company continues to expand, piling more work onto already overburdened teams. And instead of addressing the root issues, they demand that employees work faster without providing the necessary staffing support.
Until there's a genuine commitment to transparency and fair treatment, it's hard to see how morale and trust in this company can improve.
