Pros

I was part of a great team of Navigators that truly cared about their jobs and members.

Cons

technology, random rollouts of dialers that work horribly with no prior testing. Offered outbound care navigator roll that quickly turned into a s&*tshow of a million different things we were not trained on. 2,000+ members per navigator which makes your job absolutely impossible, micromanaging, stress.

Employees are not vauled

Pros

The only pro about Optum is you will learn which doctors are the best providers.

Cons

This company does not value employees. If you get a promotion, your raise will only be by 10% but if someone is hired from outside the company, they will be offered a salary of 30% higher at a minimum. This company changed their leadership structure to cut the number of lead PSR positions. Anyone that was not rehired for their current Lead PSR position was demoted and lost 5% of their pay, and no this was not merit based at all. Lastly a lot the clinic supervisors and upper management have no idea how clinics run day to day. These same leaders will not defend you when patients curse you out and call you out your name. Instead they go to the patient and apologize and smooth things over.

Pros

Getting better at adopting newer technologies. Is still allowing full-time telecommute. PTO plan is generous.

Cons

Pay plan is getting worse and raises are more stingy. The company never hesitates to find a way to get in its own way. They’re their own worst enemy. Senior leadership decisions leave a lot to be desired. Huge outsourcing initiative right now, for no reason other than cheaper. For a healthcare company, the health insurance plans they offer employees is so bad. The company is so cheap with their offerings. Your experience is entirely dependent on your manager. People with great experiences had good managers. People with bad managers had a nightmare of a time. Don’t incentivize employees enough to stay.
