Work Hard, Play Hard!

Pros

The company is definitely poised for big things in 2016 and I find the financial and operations transparency to be refreshing. Execs truly care about building relationships and giving everyone the tools to succeed and are passionate about quality products.

Cons

Due to the rapid growth we are experiencing it can be hard to keep up with all the new faces and in spite of all the genuinely friendly and talented members of the team there are a few in highly visible, critical positions who lack the interpersonal skills to be effective but remain because executives like them.

Fun, if a bit limiting

Pros

Location: it's right across from the burlingame caltrain, so it's an easy walk to a ton of cool places to shop or have lunch Culture: Less gamer-y than your typical gaming company. People don't have toys and plushies on their desks, so it can look a bit stern. But the office is pretty open and there's a lot of natural light (if you're on the lightside) and relaxing darkness (if you're on the darkside). People: Everyone not top management is cool. People are chill and no one smells. It doesn't get loud except during planned events. Office manager is super cool. There's a Culture Committee that plans events. Also since they work with actual vegas properties, there are many vegas trips Noms: bagels on mondays, eatclub lunch weds/thurs, and all your standard snacks. But again, if you need a snack there are places a block or two away. T-Pumps AND a Quickly for you boba lovers!

Cons

work/life balance needs some attention. People are burning out. Upper management needs to relax. I mean actually relax- take a break because several of you are stressing out so much that it's starting to trickle down. Parking: getting blocked in is no fun, and it will happen. IT is such a pain to work with. You don't start with a keyboard and mouse- you have to put in an order for one. so you'll probably be without for the first day or two and instead you're stuck using a trackpad. gross. Music. in the morning, there's music playing. One person asked who was playing music, and once it was discovered no one has complained since. Very aggressive release cadence. Micromanagement leads to lack of creative flexibility.

Thank you for providing us with an honest response of your experience at PLAYSTUDIOS. We want you to know that your feedback is noted, and we agree with you. Work-life balance is important in developing a culture employees can appreciate, and although it’s still a work-in-progress, we're striving towards making it better. We hope you'll find that while some releases may seem really busy, they will often fluctuate to more flexible schedules. Our goals at PLAYSTUDIOS are indeed ambitious, but we hope it’s an indication that we're still growing, and as we do we will continue to improve our processes (like onboarding!), and innovate our products to stay in line and ahead of industry standards. It takes hard work and great talent like yours to achieve that, and we do our best to show employees our sincerest appreciation for helping PLAYSTUDIOS to receive the highest level of regard from our fans and our peers. If there’s a way we can do that any better, please let us know!

Thank you for letting us know about your experience at PLAYSTUDIOS. We want to assure you that management is aware of a possible disconnect between teams. We are certain that there are many great mutually-shared qualities between our Austin and Bay Area teams, and perhaps the distance between offices may not make those as obvious as we’d like. Fortunately, we are addressing how we can better bridge that gap to improve working relationships. Just like our Bay Area employees, our Austin employees are incredibly smart and have an admirable work ethic. We could not achieve such outstanding quality of games without the talented employees we are so lucky to have on both sides of the country. You’re all valuable employees of PLAYSTUDIOS that deserve our utmost respect, but most importantly the respect from one another. We want you to be better aware of how funny, cool, and interesting the people behind the JIRA tickets and emails really are. Your feedback on how to improve that is always appreciated.
