Pros

I really enjoy working here. My team is extremely sharp, friendly, and supportive of each other. Working with talented and dynamic people is the best part of working at Palladium, and results in truly innovative and impactful work. Unlike a lot of development consulting firms that are more or less management shops, Palladium is deeply involved in the technical delivery of projects, which makes for better programs and also creates a many opportunities for staff to grow technically. Palladium has gone through a lot of changes over the past couple years, which have been painful at times and resulted in staff turnover. But ultimately those changes have been for the better. The company has worked out a lot of the kinks and brought on fantastic new operations and support services staff. As a result, things are functioning much more smoothly than they were a year ago, or even 6 months ago.

Cons

Some of the support departments are still chronically understaffed, which creates frustration on all sides. The open office space is really tough with limited meeting rooms, and actually makes it more difficult to collaborate with colleagues. On the plus side, they're pretty flexible about working from home when needed. Long hours are the norm, especially if you do both business development and project work. Overemphasis on processes and over-investment in systems that don’t function and actually make work streams less efficient.

Thank you for the feedback. Your commentary on the process pains are valid and we all need to make the effort to simplify without sacrificing client or legislative requirements. We are in the midst of an ICT (Technology) review that is aimed at simplifying and improving the end user experience. Any suggestions on how we maximise efficiency in the open space environment are welcomed. The open office approach has come with many benefits and we will not go back to individual offices but we are open to any ideas to improve the situation. Your advice to management - I couldn't agree more and when we get fed corporate lines we need to call this out and hold the leader/s accountable to tell it how it is. It is not about what we want to hear but what we have to hear.
