good company to get experience in, growth industry

good for resume. experience in the gaming industry. The company has grown very fast so intercommunications are a little slow and organizational stuff is hard to organize. It takes a lot of time to get projects approved, and sometimes they get killled - i guess all big companies are similar.

Cons

big company downsides, nothing unsual. Too many discussions with all company branches, a lot of time wated on talking about projects instead of just doing them. Sony's different companies don't talk to each other a lot, this is improving a lot in the last 2 years, and might make sony a much better place to work in.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has a very fun job culture. The people that I have had a chance to work with are very friendly. The best thing about my job is the camaraderie that I have with the people I work with.

Big company, can be bureaucratic at times.

Pros

Sony is a company with a rich brand history and this makes for an interesting work environment. The video game industry is still in growth mode, which creates an environment where contributions can be made at all levels (of course, provided that management allows for such contributions to be made). Entertainment is a integral part of people's lives and working for a company that develops entertainment product puts one "front an center" in this part of lifestyles. Benefits are reasonably good at Sony and the fact that many video game companies, including Sony Computer Entertainment America, are closed over the Christmas holidays is a nice perk.

Cons

Room for advancement is limited, particularly in certain functional areas. Japanese run leads to some complications when trying to address US or European markets.
