A once great company being crushed by bean counters

Pros

At the peak of this company it was a powerhouse of creative talent where individuals could make an impact through the flat organization. The coworkers were amazing and we had the freedom to do great work.

Cons

Sadly, Finance was allowed to take over most aspects of the company and we chase dollars now. For whatever reason Finance has been given ownership of many departments across the company. Star players have been leaving the company from every department. We have had a rotating door inside many of the people departments, which Finance also owns. The culture has been taking a pretty negative path and it is clear the people departments are not enabled to fix this. If I wanted to work at a company that just focuses on money and ignores a growing toxic culture, I would go do the company who's name rhymes with Tuber.

Pros

Good company to work for, they try to take care of their employees. Lunchs are provided and it's a cool working enviroment (office wise). The CEO seems like he's got his head on right and the company is growing like crazy.

Cons

It is definitely a millenial run place. The groups are very clicky and trying to fit in can be a challenge for "older styled" workers. And the office is not definitely geared toward workers with families. The pay is much lower than market. But they try to make it up with other amenities.

Pros

(1) Some colleagues are extremely supportive, creative and smart. (2) Great location (SF downtown). (3) Not bad perk in gaming industry. (4) Good to join if you have no other options.

Cons

(1) Ever since the failure of PG's new game, every insider knows that the company is obviously going downhill with acceleration. Stars are leaving gradually and some people got laid off. (2) The management is like a family run business. The hilarious thing is that they are playing unprofessional management seriously. PG's management emphasize on shifting blames and micro managing. The result is the toxic culture. Another keyword of the culture is hypocritical, where people pretend to be enthusiastic and love PG but are actually actively seeking jobs outside and blaming leads. If you search the current employees names (both leads and non-leads), without any surprise you'll find many of their resumes were updated on some recruiting platforms quite recently :) (3) My team is not that bad but overall employees are suffering from long hours. For this one it's not only PG's fault, but the original sin of the game industry to get low pay with long hours.
