Very fun company, but not going anywhere

Pros

Pocket Gems has a super fun gaming/startup culture. It's a great job straight out of college that will show you the ropes and allow you to progress your career. Everyone is very smart and very nice.

Cons

Pocket Gems isn't growing and hasn't really made any games that the market has responded to recently. They're still trying to figure out "how to make a great game" and until that happens, there won't be much progression in the company.

Gimmicks for young college grads

Pros

Free food. Nice people from around the world.

Cons

Long hours and low pay. PG subscribes to the theory that young college grads are happy and satisfied with games and free food. Fact is, other startups and companies offer these things at much higher pay scales. Very little communication between teams, and scrum is not the answer. Products get released with little testing and product management (usually called technical support or customer care) takes the brunt of the ire from dissatisfied players. Not enough team members to get work done at a quality level. Embarrassed to be affiliated with this company.

work-life balance, great team members to work with, everyone in the company has a mutual understanding of each other and is respectful of one another. Work hard play hard environment.

Cons

Raises don't come too often but it's offset by great benefits, food, games, and great happy hours! Could be long hours.
