Pros

Tremendous learning opportunity, after all P&G is best in class when it comes to marketing. You get to work with very smart people. For the most part people are very nice. Excellent to have P&G on your resume.

Cons

Extremely hard to get hired as external candidate: it's a long shot. Most people don't know that the vast majority of P&G employees are hired straight out of school and many stay for their entire career, changing assignments about every 2 years. Coming in from the outside is very challenging: P&G has a very unique culture and way of doing things that really isn't covered during onboarding because it's assumed that everyone knows what it is. Extremely demanding work requirements: regularly expected to work nights and weekends, usually 55+ hours per week. Little feedback. Everyone is Type A, not in a good way. Expectation is that you transition to a new role every 2 years, including being open to relocation.

Pros

Steady, secure employment if that's what inspires you.

Cons

1. Micromanagement rampant. 2. Must become a believer and preacher of whatever new idea upper management has come up with (e.g. IWS - gives me chills just to say that acronymn again). 3. Ability to innovate is constrained by upper management that has very little clue about the real nuts and bolts of how things get done. 4. Straight talk is the new buzzword but in practice, not so much - at least not yet. 5. Upper management has become too political and has tried to push those political beliefs on the company.

Pros

Pay well, generally with good benefits

Cons

The promotion and review system that defines the corporate hierarchy is fundamentally corrupt and dishonest. People are promoted not for 'what they do for the company' but for what they do for the GROUP that promotes them. Anyone who can't figure this out at P&G is an idiot. Managers don't care either. The immoral system simply continues to perpetuate itself. People who have real principles will be happier elsewhere, even if they aren't paid as well.
