Pros

Strong brand, reputation, work life balance, and business in general

Cons

LDP leadership development program. The program used to be the most desired and strong path towards an executive development. However, this has completely changed over the past two years given nee program management that brought in destructive and restrictive approach. Examples are: lack of flexibility to rotate in areas of personal interest, micro-management (even your COFFEE CHATS ARE MONITORED!!!!!!, creation of new rules in the middle of the program without any notice, that were not communicated during the recruitment process, that drastically jeopardize associates opportunities and experience. Authoritarian management that believes are dealing with kindergarten (when it’s actually top notch professionals and future leaders). They NO LONGER HAVE THE BEST INTEREST OF YOUR CAREER IN MIND. In the very last rotation, associates who receive phenomenal internal job offers are being forbidden to accept the job and bound to the program for another 2 or 3 months only for management EGO. This DOES NOT align with ONE RBC approach or associates careers.

Pros

nothing to be honest - maybe only the pension

Cons

ALOT - senior management treats staff badly with no respect. Bunch of old people there as directors who don't know the technical stuff so they cannot direct the staff properly. Lack of knowledge and they love to blame others for their faults. Junior staff and senior management who have been there for years and years are extremely disrespectful to new staff. In London RBC there is no socialising of staff at all.

Pros

RBC in general is a solid company with good benefits, especially 401K for the employees (in America) is well worth mentioning.

Cons

Having worked at Citi & JPM, RBC in America is comparably a small pond with little fishes swimming around like they've lost their ways. Having the background in Risk Management, I can honestly say, Compliance is almost nonexistent, processes are segmented, systems are older than 20 years to work effectively in the industry, and people are unprofessional including senior management. I'm surprised the Regulators are not shutting down more of their business.
