Pros

Compensation is decent. However, the compensation is un-comparable to tech companies in Toronto.

Cons

1. Very political and your peers will backstab you so that they will get high visible projects instead of you. 2. Lacks transparency: Managers do not provide you with clear steps on making you successful so that you get good year-end performance rating. 3. Unfairness and tons of bias from management: Manager will give out good projects and good year-end performance bonus to direct reports that s/he likes. Managers will set up direct report for failure if the manager doesn't like the direct report. 4. Major re-orgs has been happening every 1 - 2 years in past 7 years in Technology org. 5. Low productivity: A project is shared by many roles and many teams, hence discussion is happening forever without moving projects forward. Can't get projects done.

Pros

Pay and benefits Strong brand and industry presence

Cons

It’s important for RBC to address the concerning issue of certain managers misrepresenting situations and making false claims against advisors, which can have serious consequences on their careers. During my time at RBC, I personally experienced this when DG, a card manager, falsely accused me of something I never did, leading to an unjust warning. Situations like this create unnecessary stress and harm employees' well-being. Management should take proactive steps to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency in leadership. Employees deserve to work in an environment where integrity is prioritized, and where their concerns are heard and addressed properly. DG, as a leader, should reflect on her actions and strive to foster a more ethical and respectful workplace. RBC must do better in holding management accountable.

Pros

Nothing much, just some Perkopolis benefits

Cons

- Micromanagement - Politics - Everyone wants to save their jobs, no one helps if you need help - Upper management wants employees to work on any project they want, you could be switching 4-5 projects in a year, can not focus on one project
