Pros

I worked for Navisite for over 4 years, and it was a positive career move. They paid well for my experience level. The teams I worked with were great people. Navisite has been a well known locally based datacenter hosting / cloud services company for decades (with a global footprint, having offices in US, UK and India), and during my time there I got to work on projects for a number of impressive clients. Navisite can be a great place to get a foot in the IT infrastructure door someone looking to advance their career. I had the freedom to manage my own projects, and create test environments for potential new services under my own initiative.

Cons

During my time at Navisite there were 2 mergers, at least 3 rounds of layoffs, and 2 additional rumored/threatened mergers. My team's senior engineer was laid off (we believe they were trying to get rid of remote workers who had no local office to move to) which took the legs out from under us. My manager was laid off the following year which nearly broke the team as he was our advocate where no one else in the organization really understood our team's work. Even between rounds of layoffs there was a constant unease at the feeling that we were training our replacements in India and waiting for the axe to fall. Additionally, our day to day work involved constant putting out of fires and juggling of resources on outdated and aging server / infrastructure hardware which there was no budget to refresh. As a supposed cutting edge cloud host it's embarassing to show customers the 6-7 year old hosts we run in production, and to respond to complaints about performance with "I'll see if we can find any newer hosts to swap into your cluster". The short-sightedness and typical corporate bottom-line focused approach of upper management infected the culture all the way down, to the point where engineers basically throw up their hands and take no ownership. In fact, a strong trend company-wide is CMA and deflect blame, which is poison in any company.

Pros

Sometimes you'll get free doughnuts.

Cons

Management treats you like a number and is only interested in pushing everyone to work harder. Complete lack of empathy or caring for their employees in any way. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy.

Pros

They do understand that its a less than fun job and try to do activities in the workplace that lighten the mood. They're always giving out food in the office for like national hotdog day etc. They train you everything you need to know about softwares being used and how to deal with customers. Weekly meetings with your supervisor about work performance and how you can approve.

Cons

Some of the supervisor can be real know it alls. In order to decrease the number of people calling and asking for a supervisor they count it against you in your work stats. So when you call to transfer a customer to a supervisor they can be downright rude to you. This of course is ridiculous after you've been listing to people scream about how high their bill is for the majority of your day. The last thing you want is a nasty attitude from coworkers or "superiors" but you get this often at this company. The schedule can be grueling, lunch and breaks are mapped down to the minute literally so you cannot pick a time to head to lunch or take a break. They want you starring at the computer screen taking calls for too big a portion of the day if you ask me. maybe that's the reason everyones got an attitude. The job requires no special skills so they are quick to fire you and hire the next person. The call centers have a very high turnover rate. The benefits are cool beware they do take back 401K contributions if you don't stay with the company long enough and they do not under any circumstance write recommendations or reference letters. Also very hard to move up the latter here. There are people who have been with the company 15 years working under the same job title.
