In-Bound Sales Rep (Saint Ann, MO) = Deceiving Job
Pros
Good medical / vision / dental / retirement benefits, employee discount on services, break room with mini-store to buy snacks, paid time off, very professional environment, clean building & restrooms
Cons
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS JOB. One month of basic, generic classroom work with knowledge, role play and basic computer system. One month on the phone to prove your sales techniques (show you can meet below the average goals). It's what they don't teach you that's the problem. When on the phone, the mentors that are there to help you, don't give you the answers you need. Instead, they say "What does the knowledge system say?" The computer system you use to input orders is very old and outdated. You don't learn everything (you can't) ... instead you learn on an "as-needed" basis (very stressful when you have a customer and you need something). There is a new system for new orders only, but there are still kinks to work out. Every call requires you to track the sale. Some people call for internet/TV only ... VERY STRESSFUL because you have to sell Triple Play Gold/Silver to everyone. You even have to attempt to sell for people that say that don't want something. My least favorite thing is the way the call has to go ... it's not scripted ... but you have to follow a call flow. You have to say things a certain way. The company doesn't care how you sell to customers (to an extent), as long as they agree to the cost ... even if you don't tell them "everything". They do everything legally, they just teach you what to say for the minimum. IF YOU DON'T PASS YOUR FIRST MONTH ON THE PHONE ... YOU ARE LET GO (FIRED). If you apply for this job, be ready for intense stress, depression, and low morale. Most important: HAVE A BACK UP JOB LINED UP. You get coached frequently on how to sell more. It helps if you have sales experience, but again you are limited on what you can say. You are on the phone (headset) all the time. The work is very repetitive. You feel very exhausted after work because you spent the whole day talking and arguing with people. Your job is to UPSELL to everyone.
