Workplace Dysfunction Leads to Unhappiness and High Turnover Rate

Pros

Great co-workers, ok health and other benefits.

Cons

I've been working at this company for a while now and it's gone from a decent place to work to a soul-sucking work environment. Work- life balance is terrible! Productivity seems to be an afterthought, with senior leadership seeing every project as an exercise in business theory. They don't offer direction or answers; instead, they ask countless questions to explore the idea and focus on minutiae. There are here are *endless* approvals and poor communication. Projects are dropped in your lap at the last minute, even when you're already facing an overwhelming workload. The environment is so dysfunctional that the team morale is low, resulting in a high turnover rate. I've never experienced a place like this before, and I hope to not experience it again. There is also little to no mobility which is why so much of the turnover is junior staff. If you're considering applying for a job here, my advice is that you think twice. This company isn't the best place to work if you want a healthy work-life balance or an enjoyable job. You'd be much better off somewhere else.

Pros

Pay is good, brand new corporate headquarters is very nice.

Cons

Still pushing old school corporate policies like no work from home, have to be present at your desk all the time and always inundated with busy work. Still a business dress code and doesn't allow any early leave prior to a federal holiday, just to name a few.

Pros

Good insurance and benefits. Fee internet and cable services.

Cons

This could easily be a remote, work from home job and would resolve the issue oh having to live in Austin's crazy housing market. During the pandemic the majority of us worked from home and were able to effectively do our jobs. We are all now back in the office, yet there is not enough space for every one to sit and have their own desk. Covid and other viruses are still a thing and we are sharing desks and are not able be comfortable in your own space. This is unacceptable, working for a multi billion dollar company. Also the pay is very mixed. Some people getting paid way less than others doing the same job. You can go above and beyond working hard to do your best. But in reality the people who do the bear minimum are going to get the same meets expectations and same 3% raise every year. I have worked there 9 years and have always worked very hard but this year I realized I will only be putting in minimal effort, since my efforts go unnoticed.
