Pros

The individual us sales people are amazing! Product and content continue to drive success for the company. Pay and benefits were good. Partners were very knowledgeable but out of touch with current state of employees outside of management.

Cons

US sales leadership is an absolute joke. Fear, intimidation, and manipulation are their only tools to "inspire" and get you to "lean in." Would have accepted half the pay for real mentorship and partnership rather then being yelled at weekly in front of coworkers. Long hours and limited resource didn't help...

'Soul-crushing' is somehow an understatement.

Pros

I’ve noticed that most people have written ‘free bagels’ here when reviewing Spin Master which I’ve always thought is a lot like responding ‘lots of fresh air’ when asked to describe the pros of being sent to the Eastern Front or ‘free books’ when asked to describe a life sentence in prison. But yes if you’d like to ignore the fact that the average bagel contains up to 350 calories and 60 grams of carbs and will most likely contribute to serious fat gain then yes, ‘yay’ to free bagels.

Cons

This is the category where Spin Master really shines. You remember the twisted irony of discovering that there was seriously messed up stuff going on behind the scenes at the Willy Wonka chocolate factory? It’s the same here. It’s a toy company so you may expect to see happy smiling faces, co-workers high-fiving in the hallways to celebrate their shared joy at bringing happiness to children’s lives right? How about co-workers suffering mental breakdowns at their desks on a Monday morning after having worked through an entire holiday weekend only to realize the onslaught of ‘urgent’ email requests and meaningless meetings has continued unabated? Or how about being crammed into a window-less cubicle farm covered in old boxes and dust in a building sized for 1/3 of the people because the owners are too cheap to invest some of the companies considerable profits into anything other the pockets of its owners a very small group of favoured execs. That aside other cons include: - lack of career advancement opportunities - almost complete lack of leadership direction - zero work/life balance, it is common to be expected to respond to messages at ALL times of day and night (not exaggerating), weekends and holidays included - rampant nepotism - crippling resistance to change of any kind (keep your ‘suggestions’ to yourself is the common refrain) - I could add more but if this list hasn’t convinced to avoid this place like a pee-soaked homeless man shouting racist slurs on the streetcar, I don’t know what will.
