Pros

A wonderful company to be a part of that truly cares about making a difference in the world. Throughout my time at Springer Nature I have been given numerous opportunities to develop proffessionally and advance my career. The Kings Cross London offices are modern, stylish and in a great location. I think the benefits package is generous, as is the annual leave allowance and core hours policy. One thing that stands out to me is the open and friendly atmosphere. Managers and leadership actively encourage employees to excel, fostering an environment where ideas are valued and individuals can reach their full potential. Colleagues at Springer Nature are friendly, supportive and dedicated to collaborating. Their genuine passion for their work is palpable, creating a positive office environment that makes both hybrid working and in-office days a true pleasure. The commitment to sustainability, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and responsible operations at Springer Nature is inspiring and motivating- it makes me proud to work at Springer Nature!

Cons

I can't think of any downsides to working at Springer Nature.

Pros

Good benefits, flexible WFH policy, lots of learning & development opps. Lovely offices. The company really seems to care about employee engagement and has a strong focus on DEI, sustainability, supporting communities etc.

Cons

Sometimes hours can be long. Some of the members of the management team could be described as 'old school', but I do see a shift.

Pros

The people: everyone I've worked with is friendly and passionate about science and publishing. The brand: I feel very proud to work for an employer with a mission to inform/educate and progress science. The commitment to diversity: it is the first time in my 10-year recruitment experience (and previous publishing experience) that I am part of a company that is trying so proactively to increase diversity and be truly inclusive. There is a great support system through the Employee Networks and lots of training available about DEI. International publisher: since I joined Springer Nature I have worked with colleagues from all over the world which is the best part of my job, being able to learn and connect with different cultures on a daily basis. The chance to have a say: there are regular events where we can ask senior leadership questions and have a say. I feel like I matter which wasn't the case when I worked in another publishing house previously. Training opportunities and career development: again, this is a big focus at Springer Nature and employees are encouraged to develop/learn/apply for other positions within the group. The office: the London office is very cool, very convenient location and very nice space. We also have access to a small subsidised canteen/cafe which is handy and cheap.

Cons

Like a lot of big companies, it can be risk-adverse which means that it is sometimes a bit slow to change and some processes can seem redundant. But it's still a forward-thinking compared to a lot of publishing companies. And that means also a lot of stability so half con/half pro.
