Pros

Diversity! Almost no white people working there, and it seems they kind of get pushed to the side when it comes to job opportunity such as full time.

Cons

Really mean managers, they like to lash out when they feel angry, enforce stricter dress codes every 6 months, and make you get people to sign up for credit cards and keep asking even if the customer says no. They also tolerate gay hate because the people hating are “from another generation”. They make millions of dollars monthly and still give their workers 15-20 cent raises, and wage never goes over 11/hour unless you are a manager making a comfy 50k-100k a year.

Pros

- very friendly staff (the teenagers that work are nice at least) - break room has free water and free snacks, as well as a vending machine and a fridge + microwave. sometimes theres ice cream for the employees in the fridge :) - management is very understanding with schedule changes and the occasional lateness - MOST customers are very nice! not as many "karen"s as you'd think haha

Cons

- the very few customers that are rude are extremely rude and sometimes managers don't help the situation - there is a LOT OF CRIME. fake IDs, fake money, etc etc- be prepared! - there are lots of people without masks on who aren't vaccinated and proud of it (they tell me about it), and the company policy is that you cant ask them to put a mask on. - you aren't allowed to refuse service to anyone if they are being rude to you, it's very emotionally draining. - you cant physically stop anyone from stealing either. - the employee discount is only 10% (the dollar store next door gets 20%); i know that isnt my stores fault but it's still kind of unfortunate. - managers will HARP ON YOU to get tjmaxx cards- im 17 and i dont think 14$/hr is enough to be a cashier, crime fighter, investigator, and full blown businessman all in one. they havent punished me yet for not getting very many cards, but i dont doubt they will soon. - it says on the door only service dogs are allowed but people bring in non service dogs constantly. im allergic to dogs so it's legitimately putting me at risk of having an allergic reaction.

door shift is exhausting

Pros

food in break room sometimes and extremely flexible in schedule, good managers for the most part

Cons

i have just recently started doing door and its very exhausting, all you do is stand there welcome people in and count people in due to covid. its ok and sometimes even nice but after the 3rd or 4th hour i feel like im going crazy just starring outside, yes we do get breaks but sometimes they forget and doing it for your entire shift up to nine hours is a huge part of me quitting. i genuinely did love my job before this but i now all i do is door but one day out of my work week and it just takes a much bigger toll on my mental health standing for so long doing nothing for hours at a time, i talked to my manager asking to switch out with other coworkers halfway or even every other day but nothing has happened . i understand i signed up for this job but if i knew it would turn into this i never would have taken it. im going to miss my coworkers so much but i dread work now and it feels so unnatural. i really hope tjmaxx does something about this because i know im not the only one leaving because of this also (the location isn't accurate i just am to nervous to put mine)
