Pros

10% discount. New merchandise is fun. You have the privilege of showing up in an air-conditioned environment and soliciting credit from every single customer.

Cons

They make a huge deal out of getting credit card sign-ups. If the store does not make its goal, the store manager and assistants have to meet with the DM to form a plan to sucker more people into getting a store credit card. The store manager then returns and watches the employees like a hawk to make sure they are soliciting every single customer. This is very uncomfortable. You have to parrot three credit questions to every single customer. If you don't ask, you will be disciplined. If you don't meet your personal credit goals, you have to sign a sheet showing that you failed your goal for the day. Management treats employees as subhuman and talks down to you (think smart-person verbal abuse that uses no profanities but cuts just as much). Management bonuses correspond to credit sign-ups and customer service scores, so if your store isn't cutting it, be prepared for pressure. The leads/key holders are paid very poorly. One lead had been there 10 years and only made $10.25/hour. As far as we can tell, management sits in the office and takes phone meetings all day. There was a career day in which we selected areas of interest about which we would be contacted. I was never contacted about my interests, therefore, I concluded that the company is not really interested in the employees.

Pros

Paid every week 45 minute lunch breaks for full time employees

Cons

The management stands around and hides in the office. They treat you like garbage and complain at you when you don't finish your department. The last time I got a compliment was during my interview... They gave a position title and made it sound really great but when it got real I realized that I am just a body. If I didn't show up for work no one would notice until they needed to criticize me.

Pros

This is great first job to have. The environment was good. Every store has their own management so it is going to be different everywhere. When I got my training, everyone knew what each fixture was called and what their tack in their department was, but this was three years ago. All the co-workers were super helpful. Everyone was willing to help and not scared to help or ask you. I got to know everything pretty well other than manage things, but do not be scare to ask management to learn a skill.

Cons

The pay could be better because as a person who works on the salesfloor, I am working my a** off. Same is the same as the backroom people. Sometime management can be pain in the butt, but depends on the manager. They sometimes promote people who are lazy and have no clue how to merchandise or even know their department. I worked for the company for over three years and I have seem management promote people who have no clue how to lead and manage their department. There are management who are not up to date with with store policy and they fall behind trends. Sometimes managers promote people because they are desperate and some actually do promote people because they see potential. there is way more I want to say but no space.
