Pros

One of the best salaries in the region.

Cons

Difficult company to grow within. Managers don’t invest in their own development. Many leaders have been with the company for 10–20 years, and promotion seems tied to tenure rather than performance. Outdated systems and inefficient processes that lead nowhere. Recent layoffs and falling nickel prices have worsened the work environment. Senior leadership fails to communicate clear goals, making the company feel like a ship sailing toward an unknown destination.

Pros

The intense deadlines here are a great way to develop valuable skills like time and people management. You gain a lot on the job, picking up transferable skills and a strong grasp of the technical aspects in your field. The NAOC and the smelter provide good networking opportunities and generally have better work environments. The Toronto and Mississauga offices offer a positive work environment.

Cons

Navigating the company culture here can be challenging. The organization is quite hierarchical, and unfortunately, there’s strong gender bias directed towards women, and people of color subtly encounter racism and bullying. These issues have been around for a while but aren’t often talked about openly. Working in the mines and processing plants can be tough for women, whether they’re in frontline roles or in supervisory and engineering positions. Sudbury has a strong blue-collar feel, and adapting to life here can be difficult for those unfamiliar with smaller cities. Many employees have traditional views, as much of the workforce is local. Career growth is slow, and opportunities for development beyond your role often depend heavily on your manager.

Pros

Team members is really good Compensation is above average

Cons

Big gap between management and team. managers most probably don't have a functioning brain. HR is nonexistent and used by managers to justify any action they decide to take Long hours and demanding. Everyone's required to travel to site even though work can be done remotely and then join online meetings at site. Shows how dumb management can be. Old managers with outdated thinking

Pros

Very good benefits and bonus.

Cons

There aren't many opportunities for growth, it's a company that doesn't give many opportunities for individual contributors to become people managers and prefers to hire externally.

Pros

Good leaders (Brazilians mostly). Good offices. Reasonableness. Professional.

Cons

When left to locals to manage, the company can become a nuisance to work for. In my case it’s Malaysians. The cunning power-hungry ones know how to polish the Brazilian shoe nicely, and the Brazilian managers are a tad too naive.
