      The work can be interesting, challenging and even fun.

      Cons

      Since our IPO, management has focused on "going global" and realigning. Stockholders and management may be benefiting, but many employees are stressed and tired of "doing more with less".

      Pros

      Interesting technical environment. A mix of mainframe and server environments. Frequently trying leading edge technology. The payments business is very different and as such, is very Interesting. There are great opportunities to learn things on the job that other companies do not have. I have always been impressed with the intelligence of the employees in the technical staff. I have met some of the smartest people here.

      Cons

      The political environment is tough and requires a thick skin. It has been a 'blame' environment. When something goes wrong, management looks for someone to blame. This has improved over the last ten years. I attribute the change to the change in top management. However, it still permeates the political climate and makes it difficult to work on projects. The best approach is to never discard your email and always ensure that your management is informed of every little thing you do. Always manage upwards. Recent focus has been cutting costs and getting current employees to retire. Many were hired back as consultants.
