Pros

Up and coming MMOs, truely great and unique product offerings

Cons

Management in the Emeryville office is not qualified, and hired based on nepotism. The GM and HR/Accounting/Office manager have been friends since high school, however the HR/Accounting/Office manager was hired despite having no HR experience, not gaming or finance experience (though it is my understanding that the HR and Accounting responsibilities have since been transferred). The GM and Program Manager have been friends for 5+ years, and the Program Manager and Marketing Director have been friends for nearly 10 years, and the Marketing Director was hired because of these relationships despite having no gaming experience. This creates a comfortable environment for senior management, however there is no confidentiality amongst senior management, which is very difficult for employees and sometimes breaches of confidence happen because of these friendships.

Pros

perfectly work life balance, Colleagues are extremely friendly, and everyone's abilities are outstanding.

Cons

The top executive in the Asia region implements an almost militaristic management approach and strictly enforces a hierarchical communication structure. This has led to a situation where if your immediate supervisor is both incompetent and devious, all voices are unable to reach the highest levels. The top executive manages the company in an almost authoritarian manner, treating everyone as if they were children, even though all employees are professionals with years of work experience and are over 30 years old. I believe that the top executive in the Asia region is competent, but his complete lack of empathy and their judgmental perspective are concerning. After taking on the role of leading another team, it has become an endless disaster. Lastly, to climb the corporate ladder in this company(i mean in Apac office only), you don't necessarily need to have skills; you just need to be good at flattery and know how to act in front of the higher-ups, backstabbing your subordinates is enough; as this has already been proven in the company through real-life situations.

Pros

-Takes the ongoing pandemic Very seriously, all departments except IT switched fully to remote work at the start of the pandemic and have remained remote in the 2.5 years since (with the option to come into the office if you'd like). -Until recently employment has been very stable with yearly pay increases and bonuses. This is especially rare in the game dev industry. -Respects Quality Assurance by paying them fairly and not using contract workers. I've been at another developer that clearly thought very little of the QA department and either used primarily contract workers that they would then fire at the end of the project or unfairly paid QA low wages compared to other departments. This is not so here. -There is little to no overtime or crunch, another rarity in the industry.

Cons

-Recently let go of a lot of integral senior staff in an attempt to save money. This has created a very unstable and uncertain working environment as less experienced employees scramble to make up for the years of experience and leadership lost. -New company leadership seems less invested in making a good game that players enjoy. -Some isolated(?) examples of women in lead positions with 10+ years of experience being paid less than their male coworkers in lower positions with fewer years experience.
