Please don't believe the hype

Pros

Good benefits, but not anything you can't get from similar companies of similar size.

Cons

Where should I begin? Lets start with the fact that we are highly understaffed underpaid and overworked. Managements response to this is essentially "lets just work better". This response comes from a company valued at over 18 billion yet refuses to employ people as necessary. They rather fill us with a bunch of fluff. To me personally the worst part is how they have people coming on here and talking up the company instead of calling it like it is, that it's in some serious need of restructuring. PLEASE don't believe the hype. Oh and forget about any sort of pay raise or promotions unless your one of the favorites. Better make friends quick if you want to move up because it sure won't be based on your work ethic.

Pros

I came to this job from a very unhealthy department at a hip independent news and media company. The interview process was very well thought out and gave me a lot of confidence in the switch I was making, that I would be working with smart valuable people. I can't speak to some of the lesser reviews on this site for other departments, but the Digital Dept is very well organized and has plenty of smart people to learn from. Leadership in this department is robust and heavily anchored in strong tech and startup backgrounds that I am continually impressed with. I am a huge fan of the culture in this team and felt like I was able to be included and make a ton of new friends with the same career passions as me right away. The teams are very open about employees learning new skills they are interested in, or switching around projects and products to keep the people here interested and happy with their work.

Cons

WeWork has some of the same pains as other successful new-ish companies who expanded quickly in their market. Not everything is perfect here, and there are still adjustments being made in the department around project planning and yearly goals with a rapidly expanding team. BUT that doesn't mean they aren't addressing these pains at the same time. I'm still impressed how quickly peer feedback is taken and acted on within this department.

Pros

Amazing culture and people! If you are looking to expand your career quickly and take on opportunities early in your career this is the place to be!

Cons

With great opportunity comes hard work (and potentially longer hours). This is a fast pace, high growth company. If you're up for the challenge, it can be incredibly rewarding.
