Pros

Welcome Break is a fantastic company to work for offering various, clearly defined career paths across some of the biggest brands in the hospitality industry, ie. Starbucks, Waitrose, KFC. Working for a company that is home to so many brands means there is always opportunity to gain experience across these other brands whilst still remaining employed by one company. Managers are entitled to a £10 per day food allowance and all employees have free car parking on site as well as access to the welcome break benefits programme offering discounts across multitudes of retailers, hotels and restaurants. The company works hard to ensure people are the focus, both staff and customers alike. Corley in particular is lead by a true people leader who has developed several new managers into competent leaders.

Pros

- Lots of high street brands and business types, therefore a great place to learn many disciplines, standards and cultures. - Massive opportunities to move around and progress within the company all the way up to mid-senior/senior level. - As per above, Welcome Break value worked experience in the business equally to, if not more so than, any formal qualifications. - Lively and vibrant business; lots of fun in a very fast-moving environment.

Cons

- Welcome Break appear to be pursuing a growth through selection strategy, adding many new brands and business units. As such, most of the annual capital budget each year gets spent on building new drive thru Starbucks stores and similar, meaning that funding is tight for non-profit generating projects or systems. - As per above, some back of house systems are antiquated and inappropriate for the size of business; many critical business processes still occur within unprotected Excel workbooks etc. - This a 24/7/365 industry. Be mindful that in operational positions you will be asked to work evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, including Christmas day etc. In more senior operational positions this will be virtually mandatory.
