Pros
Spent the first three years of my tenure in production and operation. Hours could get punishing on occasion but the studio head forged a team in his mold: one that is full of fighting spirit. Two years ago, the studio gave me a position in the field I've wanted my whole life: video game narrative development. Given my background, this opportunity is unlikely to come elsewhere, and for that, I'm immensely grateful.
The management deserves credit for their capacity and humility to take in feedback, for self-reflection and the drive to improve conditions for everyone. At our lowest point, they could have held on to their autonomy, but they chose to do right by everyone in the studio. They are good people and that is saying a lot, particularly in these times when moral standards have been found wanting in so many high profile leaders of the video games industry.
These are exciting times for the studio with a slew of improvements to conditions in a very short span of time. There are raised expectations but that is a good thing given the relative youth of the games development in Singapore and South-east Asia.
Cons
Many things that I would consider as downsides working in this studio are a thing of the past. I would like to see more initiative on the part of team leads to communicate among ourselves so that our creative direction and decision making can be more coherent and holistic.
