Pros

There are many pros. The standouts for me are being able to work closely with our CEO and the amount of opportunities there are for collaboration across teams. I feel incredibly lucky to be working so closely with the loveliest and smartest group of people.

Cons

No cons for me.

#1 Company in Food Tech

Pros

Yummly is a place of extraordinarily smart, friendly and passionate people. Everyone is extremely nice and supportive: the organization is really flat and most of business and technology decisions are being made by teams that are working on those features. Yummly is a Food Technology company focused on using cutting edge tech to solve real problems for people who love cooking. The depth of the technologies we use is amazing: as an example Ingredient Recognition is currently recognizing thousands of ingredients through your phone's camera. It's like SeeFood from the show Silicon Valley, only in real life. As another example - Yummly is building the real Connected Kitchen (with some help from our friends at Whirlpool) where all the appliances are talking to each other and your Yummly Apps - this is the real IoT used to solve an actual problem in many families. Finally, Yummly has one of the best company cultures in Silicon Valley. People work together and play together. Everyone is always willing to help and goes that extra mile to take care of coworkers/friends. It's truly amazing to work in that environment every day.

Cons

Yummly is currently residing in a WeWork space while building out its permanent residence in San Carlos. This situation presents a couple of issues and inconveniences, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and everyone is looking forward to move to the awesome new space.

Pros

- High amount of trust in employees to do what is right by them and the company - Flexible schedule to deal with life stuff when needed - Little office politics, I've never felt scared to voice concerns or skepticism. - Lots of healthy discussions about code - Usual office stuff, great snack/drink selection, 2/week catered lunches, etc.

Cons

- Tribal knowledge is definitely a thing at Yummly - Not sure there's room to grow career-wise

Thank you for your candid review. Core values such as transparency, communication, and big bets are all about employees actively participating and having direct impact on the organization's success. We are glad you see that happening everyday. We care about the growth of our employees and are actively working on developing a career development plan and hope to implement it in the near future. We also hope to breakdown the "tribal knowledge" and bring all employees up to speed on institutional knowledge more quickly and move away from too many acronyms. Additionally, this year we have worked to get more focus on initiatives rather than take on too much. We will continue to work on this.
