I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Shopify in Mar 2018
Interview
It was a fun process more like getting to know a new employer than being interviewed. The process helps them identify if you'd be a good fit just as much as it does yourself.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Shopify (Victoria, BC) in Mar 2018
Interview
The interview process was incredibly smooth. The first round was a simple conversation with someone at Shopify who hadn't seen my resume before, so it gave me an opportunity to be genuine about my life story. The second interview was, in my opinion, crucial in order to tell whether I was going to like the job or not. The "gauntlet" allowed you to go through a "trial" of what the position is really all about and engage in real-time customer service action.

Question 1
What's one of the most memorable moments of your life?
The process took 2 weeks approximately. The chat was pleasant enough and there were a lot of in depth questions about my previous employers, about my goals and about what I do outside work ( passions, hobbies etc). Right after finishing the Skype interview, they moved forward with the famous Gauntlet which was kind of stressful (the unfriendly mocking was not necessary either). I waited 3 days for them to give me the news. I genuinely think that Shopify has a strange hiring policy. After speaking with other people that went to the same process, it seems that they're only looking for native English speakers with BASIC written knowledge of a second European language and that they have something against foreigner accents. Shopify, I suggest you to be clearer when writing the job descriptions so all the foreigners fluent in English but not at a native level will abstain to apply. Second advice for Shopify is that customers living in non English speaking countries are not too happy about not being able to communicate on the phone in their own language with the Guru team. It is time you promote diversity and multiculturalism and start hiring natives from another countries. Also, I agree with other comments and I think that there might be some kind of ageism going on.
