I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Galway) in Jun 2015
Interview
First Skype interview was a very informal chat. We touched on my background and discussed my life choices. There was no questions on my past employment. Another Skype interview was scheduled for the "Gauntlet" which is a 3 hour test on your ability to find and explain information that is relevant to dealing with Merchants. This is a great test of your skills and gives you an insight into what the position involves. Finally there was another Skype interview just explaining how the process was going and offering me the position.

Question 1
How did you end up in Galway? (I am not native!)
How did you "sell" the move to your family?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Shopify (Ottawa, ON) in Mar 2015
Interview
The interview process took months. Started with them taking my resume from a referral, then we had some email correspondence. Then there was a phone interview... once I made it past that I had a Skype follow up with the same person. Then another Skype. Then more emailing back and forth. Then there was what they called the "Gauntlet" which was to test what my responses would be like to customers. I found out later that other peoples gauntlets included phone tests. I did not do any phone tests myself in my gauntlet so there is some inconsistency within the interviewing process. But perhaps my emails were good enough that was skipped. Each of these pieces had massive amounts of time in between in between. Altogether it took about 3 months to get through the hiring process.

Question 1
They mostly wanted to know personal stuff about you. They didn't ask typical interview questions more just wanted to hear your confidence and decorum on the phone.

Interview
The interview process is very fun. However, when you get to the "gauntlet" it is pretty intense. If you can't handle pressure or think on your feet you might think the interview process sucks. I think its awesome and weeds out the wrong people for the job. The recruiters at Shopify are also awesome. The first interview was such a nice chat. It's a breath of fresh air to talk with genuinely nice people.
