Spectrum interview questions

Completed on line application submission on the Charter website and about 10 days later received a call from the hiring manager to arrange a time for a more lengthy phone interview. That took place 2 days later and I was told the next steps would be in 10 days - 2 weeks for an in person interview. The next day, the hiring manager called and asked me to come in to interview with 5 people the following week. I met the hiring manager and the 4 others and was there for about 3 hours. The questions were typical behavioral interview questions and some repeated, I'm sure to check for consistency. It was a positive experience overall and I felt that it went very well. I was asked for references as I exited, which I thought was a positive sign. None of my references were contacted and 8 days later I received an email letting me know that another candidate had been selected.

Was given a phone interview on a Wed. asked in for a 2:1 in person interview on Friday. Offered to make final interview (which was a 15 min presentation and 7 member panel interview) Only 2 people from the training department was on the panel. Found out that I was the only external candidate out of the 4 total. I also found out that only one of the other 3 had any (very little) training background. My background is 5 years of training experience with companies such as IBM, DECA, Cardinal Health. I was told that they would make the decision quickly and they would call me regardless. It has been 6 days and still have not heard a word. They were very proffesional, but I did not understand why the different managers were on the panel that had nothing to do with training. Would you have a doctor in an interview for a lawyer?
