Really great people and company

Pros

The total compensation is quite good, a sizable portion is in the form of a company performance bonus and so people don't seem to really factor that in despite receiving one 11 out of the past 12 years. The work-life balance is great in most functional departments, although some are not as good. The people that you would work with, though, are top notch.

Lack of empowerment and accountability.

-Working with some great people -Some interesting products and books -Okay benefits -Good company events

Cons

-Awful leadership who is disconnected with their employees and customers -Very hard to get a promotion, stuck in same role for years, a lot of layoffs -Below standard, barely liveable pay. -At the recent Boston town hall, someone was brave enough to ask the CEO to his face why we receive such poor pay and low raises compared to higher management. Like a true corporate CEO, he said his "figures" told him all our pay was equal and high for the industry.

Cons

As usual with large companies, complete disconnect to customers on the ground. Unclear with direction of technology changes and how it impacts traditional texbook sales. Do not pay market value for experience of technology sales experience. Downgraded on Wal Street, preaches company develpement of employees and supports this with chronic layoffs.
