Pros

Global organization. High profile product lines. Opportunities to work in other counties. Collaboration with global engineers and executives.

Cons

Gross organizational inefficiencies. Cronyism personified. Jekyll and Hyde leadership. Just be sure to agree with your boss on all things work related. Or better yet, chat with your boss about his favorite college football team to earn points. Get on his good side and earn exclusive golf outings or private dinners with executives. As in life, it's who you know that will open the doors of opportunity. It's never what do you know.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Electrolux. While many of your colleagues around the globe would list similar Pros to yours, it is understandable that those things might be overshadowed by the Cons you have mentioned. The behavior you have cited is unacceptable and it goes against both our Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. We not only encourage but expect that employees who witness this behavior (whether from within the situation itself or outside of it) report it to the ethics Alertline so that it can be documented and investigated by a third party. In this way, we are all accountable to each other to make our workplaces enjoyable and rewarding. Regarding your advice to management, it is unfair and inaccurate to say that "management" does not care about employee feedback unless someone is on a certain level. One example to the contrary is this channel. Unlike many other companies, we write responses to all of our Glassdoor reviews (no matter how positive or negative) because we believe each employee deserves a personal response to a personal workplace experience they have had. We take this feedback very seriously and where we have been provided with enough information to make changes, we actively work towards them. If you do not feel comfortable speaking about these issues with your manager or HR Business Partner, please consider letting us know more at the Group HR level at employee.experience@electrolux.com.

Pros

Modern facility w/ good cafeteria, by and large everyone is friendly and not very political. Management does seem to be taking a harder look at the way things are run and implementing some positive change. If you're the type of person that mainly looks as a job as something you do to pay the bills and are a "go with the flow" type person you should have no problem working here.

Cons

Contrast to the last pro, if you're the type of person that wants more out of their job than just a paycheck, that wants to constantly feel valued, engaged and challenged, then this isn't the place for you. The processes, technology and in some cases management are very much entrenched and there's a lot of "this is the way we've always done things" mentality. Managers work very hard and are dedicated but this means they're spread too thin and don't actually do much one on one managing. It's more managing by looking at checklists and seeing what's still open. The rest of the staff usually consists of nice people but alot of them live in a bubble. That is they only know their job and don't understand how what they do impacts other people. When you start asking more in depth questions they look at you as if to say "Why are you asking me that?" Very quiet work environment where aside from occasional team get togethers its a lot of people just keeping to themselves on headphones. Of all the jobs I've had I'm finding it hardest to get excited about this one the most.

Thank you for leaving a review of Electrolux. We appreciate that you took the time to give honest and specific advice you feel would make the company better, even if you wouldn’t recommend it as a place to work right now. Just to cover the points you mention: as a Group, we conduct an employee engagement survey once a year for all 60,000 employees—and we are proud of this. We run an annual survey because we feel it gives teams time to create and implement action plans and also to see results. The quarterly pulse surveys you mention can yield valuable and specific feedback but work best on a smaller and more localized level where actions can be implemented more quickly. We would welcome any team to have its own “How are we doing?” session at any time so that it can be empowered to make the changes needed closest to it. In this way, no one needs to wait a year or a quarter or depend on “upper management” to see action. Everyone can be responsible for doing his/her part. 360 assessments are available for all employees but it’s true that we do not have a Group policy requiring them for managers every few years. We leave this up to a manager and his/her employee because we believe 360s are most useful when they relate to specific development needs, not a mandated corporate calendar. Regarding the speed with which we work on the feedback we receive here….One challenge with feedback is asking the right follow-up questions to create a plan for meaningful change. The best action plans come out of conversations that explore an issue objectively and from multiple angles. Most of the feedback we receive here on Glassdoor is very general and because of the nature of the channel itself, we cannot have those conversations. You have given very thoughtful feedback, and we would encourage you to share it in a conversation with your own manager or HR Business Partner. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you are always welcome to start a conversation with us on the Group level at employee.experience@electrolux.com. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Pros

The company does have benefits. Some (minority) of the Supervision/Management has enough common sense to work with you regarding time off when necessary.

Cons

If you are looking for advancement within a company, this company is for you IF you are HIGHLY POLITICAL. You MUST have a seared conscious, willing to lie and be a back stabber. If you can do these things, the sky is the limit for you. If you think you can work for this company and advance via appropriate, moral and fair means, then you WILL BE HIGHLY DISSATISFIED. This is not a disgruntled employee. This is the truth from several years of experience with this company. A lot of the people in this company can't handle the truth. If you do not comply with the politics, etc, you WILL BE EXPOSED AND THROWN UNDER THE BUS. This company has simply let employees go with amazing experience and knowledge of the product produced at this facility like it was nothing. When that happens, that experience and knowledge is simply thrown out of the window and most of the time, you don't get that back. They pick and choose who gets which positions. There are positions there that "require" Bachelors Degrees. There are some there with Bachelors Degrees that can't do their jobs. I know several employee's there that have less than a Bachelors Degree and can do the jobs that "require" Bachelors Degrees better than a lot of people with Bachelors Degrees.
