Pros
Colleagues are nice, but that is true in any gaming studio
Cons
Having worked in several other companies I can safely say that Gameloft was one the worst experience. Let’s start at the beginning, the recruitment process is shallow to say the least I’ve had colleagues who had almost no skill and got hired just because they were able to sweat talk their way into getting the job. The only way to get ahead is not skill or hard work, it’s being able to play the corporate “Game of Thrones” The management is appalling, you are nothing but a number on a spreadsheet. Massive amounts of unpaid overtime, this overtime is always caused by a: The project being to ambitious for the team b: Last minute changes that are requested by upper management with complete disregard for the amount of work required. There is absolutely no pre-production phase. When delivering a prototype the Paris office expects final quality material, art, functional gameplay, UI you name it, basically they want a small piece of the finished product, which is put together with duct tape asap, every deliverable has the same requirements, ending in a product that has so many last minute fixes, hacks, workarounds that working on it gets harder and harder with every passing day. After 3 years working there I must say that I walked away with absolutely no new skill. Also the pay is sub-par.
