Pros

I've been working with Ink for two years or so on the American Airlines titles and have been very impressed with the level of talent on both the edit and art teams. We were all new to the job 2.5 years ago, and have come together nicely as a team. Another major bonus of the job is working on an international publication without having to live in NYC or L.A. Love both those towns, but quality of life in Miami is tough to beat. I'm also proud of the product, and like to think we've elevated inflight magazines.

Cons

As with every magazine I've ever worked for, sales and edit are different worlds. That's to be expected, frankly. It's something every editor has to navigate. The company is growing quickly, so sometimes that leads to staffing challenges. But those can also be opportunities if you take advantage of the moment.

Pros

Depends which team you’re on. Sales & edit are completely different vibes. Everyone comes across as pleasant & fairly easy going. Beautiful building. Edit / art team are both made of very talented people, and mostly fun to be around. Everyone in sales will welcome you with a smile, and are all motivated and hardworking. Opportunity to grow quickly and learn a lot. Fantastic work/life balance, healthcare, snacks, etc.

Cons

Crazy amount of gossip. (This review will probably be read out loud in the office, or forwarded around.) Deadlines rarely met, which means a lot of guesswork, busywork, and wasted time. Errors often caught late in the game, sometimes making it into print. Limited to no opportunity to do anything outside of print, so if you’re not interested in print editorial only...eh. Poor communication between art / edit teams, super poor communication from dept. heads. The pro to that is you sometimes can take creative control, but don’t be surprised if it’s shot down last minute. Out in the sales floor...a lot of crude jokes, totally demeaning & inappropriate. Super, super loud, which makes it difficult to concentrate in the office. Not the best atmosphere.
