Everything else. Much of what is going on here in terms of DEI is performative because the company has continued to see success without addressing their shortcomings in this area. There are many employees not engaged in DEI best practices, including leaders. No clear processes around pay and promotions leaves women of color underpaid and overworked with less opportunity for advancement. In my experience on two different teams there is no clear career path leaving many people feeling confused and hopeless.
Check out the state of inclusion report; despite the many sessions and trainings we have internally, Black representation at the company has barely increased over the last couple of years. Head of DIB is a huge roadblock to progress.
Additionally, transparency is one of the core values but you won’t find much of that here. There’s an illusion of transparency being important but many leaders shy away from answering tough questions or having honest, transparent conversations.
