Overall Disappointed

Pros

The work that Palladium is doing and the markets they are trying to get into are really interesting and exciting. I was very excited to be a part of the change agents at work at Palladium. Most people that work at Palladium are really passionate about their work and very committed to helping others.

Cons

The company prides itself of the ability of its employees to move around to different roles and offices, but in practice this doesn't happen often and is quite challenging. The functions are really restricted from each other which prevents people from learning and experiencing what anyone outside their team does. The company also shows disregard for the people who work there including lay offs without transparency and structural/policy changes with little or no notice. Senior leadership talk a lot about developing a strong culture and the importance the people but they don't actually treat their people well. Overall I am very disappointed in Palladium, its leadership, its management and structure. I really hoped the company would live up to the culture and work it promotes.

Thank you very much for the feedback. Great that you reflected on the exciting work that we do and the passion of the people that do it. You rightly point out that we have made great progress in our transparency and admittedly we can do more. Our leaders should be sending the same message out and I would encourage all our employees to call out any leader that takes a contradictory line to the company approach. Tell us, I have your back!

Technical Program Manager

Pros

I really enjoy working here. My team is extremely sharp, friendly, and supportive of each other. Working with talented and dynamic people is the best part of working at Palladium, and results in truly innovative and impactful work. Unlike a lot of development consulting firms that are more or less management shops, Palladium is deeply involved in the technical delivery of projects, which makes for better programs and also creates a many opportunities for staff to grow technically. Palladium has gone through a lot of changes over the past couple years, which have been painful at times and resulted in staff turnover. But ultimately those changes have been for the better. The company has worked out a lot of the kinks and brought on fantastic new operations and support services staff. As a result, things are functioning much more smoothly than they were a year ago, or even 6 months ago.

Cons

Some of the support departments are still chronically understaffed, which creates frustration on all sides. The open office space is really tough with limited meeting rooms, and actually makes it more difficult to collaborate with colleagues. On the plus side, they're pretty flexible about working from home when needed. Long hours are the norm, especially if you do both business development and project work. Overemphasis on processes and over-investment in systems that don’t function and actually make work streams less efficient.

Thank you for the feedback. Your commentary on the process pains are valid and we all need to make the effort to simplify without sacrificing client or legislative requirements. We are in the midst of an ICT (Technology) review that is aimed at simplifying and improving the end user experience. Any suggestions on how we maximise efficiency in the open space environment are welcomed. The open office approach has come with many benefits and we will not go back to individual offices but we are open to any ideas to improve the situation. Your advice to management - I couldn't agree more and when we get fed corporate lines we need to call this out and hold the leader/s accountable to tell it how it is. It is not about what we want to hear but what we have to hear.

Terrible Operations/ HR/ management

Pros

Excellent project - specific technical team (south-east Asia)

Cons

The management is extremely poor. The operations team seems to be only concerned with making profits and don't really care about staff's well-being.
