Good people, bad product

Pros

- They do give chances to folks without a background in what they seek. - Somewhat flexible in terms of autonomy. - Work life balance is excellent.

Cons

- They have tried for decades a this point to produce a good game. Unsuccessful at best. - Leadership does not care about employees. Little transparency, heavy handed, top down. Not really thinking about the user. - No career development, let alone progression. - The office is sub-par, especially considering other tech companies. - Comp is pretty bad.

Wonderful colleagues and interesting products

Pros

PG was a great place to meet fun and talented colleagues who quickly become friends as well. A wonderful opportunity to work in the games industry, learn from those who are great at what they do, and exercise lots of ownership.

Cons

The games industry as a whole has a difficult time providing competitive liquid compensation to more traditional, publicly traded tech firms aiming to attract the same high-end talent. San Francisco has a high cost of living.

Flexible vacation policy (unlimited PTO), generous comp (for some), really smart team members

Cons

The company aspired to be a horizontal workplace and encouraged “candor” among its employees, but it was pretty hierarchical / most meaningful decisions about products were handed down from on high. They also short-changed a lot of people with equity — people came on board at the same time & same position but received wildly different equity packages.
