positive reviews are likely false

Pros

Just see my cons below...

Cons

As you can see on here, there are a lot of negative reviews about the CEO and upper management ... so to combat that Sam Skey has directly asked people to write positive reviews on this page. Accordingly, beware of positive reviews - they were likely solicited.

Bottom of PMC totem pole

Business Outlook

Pros

Typical NYC Media Office - young, mostly women. Collaborative space with an outgoing environment and energetic teammates.

Cons

The CEO. I repeat, THE CEO. She is a total basket case with no insight into the business or the capabilities of her team. She constantly and consistently lies to clients which in turn puts the entire team and company in a difficult spot because no one is able to deliver on what we've sold and we rarely receive repeat business. She is disingenuous and rude. I have apologized to clients more than one time because of her behavior. Apart from client facing interactions, she is also derogatory and negative to her team, constantly putting them down and poking fun of them in front of other team members for her own pure enjoyment. SHE Media was acquired by PMC and since then things have gone down hill. We are obviously the lowest regarded company in the portfolio and it shows, just visit our offices. Our benefit package drastically decreased since the acquisition and we are not paid out our vacation days yet team members have been threatened and scolded for taking their vacation days numerous times. (ALL EMPLOYEES should have the option to take their vacations days or have them paid out -- they are part of a total compensation package.) PMC is the only media company in NYC that does not receive summer Friday's and we do not receive the day after Thanksgiving but you better be prepared to answer emails after 9pm, texts from the CEO after 11pm and be responsive on weekends. PMC offers ZERO 401k match. During my time here, I have seen a high rate of turnover and I know many people are actively searching. Many times when someone leaves, they are not replaced, hurting the success of the live campaigns and the overall health of the business. I pity any woman who will have a child while employed at PMC. For a company with a very "pro-female" "pro-equality" "let's raise women up" mission, maternity leave at SHE Media + PMC is pitiful and a poor example of what companies should offer their employees. The PMC CEO said he would meet 1:1 with every member of the SHE Media team after the acquisition and almost 18 months later, we are still waiting for those meetings. (My calendar is up to date, if the offer still stand!) It is obvious that there is a plan for SHE Media that involves very little of the current staff.

Strict Unfun Political Company With A Toxic Culture

Business Outlook

Pros

People are generally collaborative. Office is located near Grand Central. Plenty of great colleagues to become friends with that aren't taking part in the toxic culture.

Cons

Don't fall for all of the reviews from upper management that were placed in early April 2019! Extremely political No room for growth Huge pay inequality Many two faced directors Policies everywhere Must be working every second between 9-5. Toxic environment with lots of gossip CEO plays favorites and is extremely rude. Impossible to get time off to go to the doctor/dentist. If you do get the time off, you'll be judged for going. Cubicles in a very cramped office. No 401k. Extremely expensive benefits. Expected to work weekends/holidays occasionally. Management provides endless work and takes advantage of you. If you continue to complete the work, even if it took a 60 hour work week, they'll send more your way, since they now know you're capable of working 60 hour weeks. CEO is openly sexist and favors women. There is constantly a line for the bathroom. Company is unprofitable, which is the reason they had to be bought, and they continue to struggle in a changing environment and will not take advice from employees. Instead, they resort to mass layoffs with no notice.
