Pros

very easy job once you get the hang of it. free food almost every week if you're into that sorta thing. my co-workers were great. Free cable and internet.

Cons

Where do I start *sigh* -low pay. they are constantly adding new tools to the job but they are not compensating for it. -poor management. all they care about are your numbers. even if you are very good at your job they will find something to nag you about. -impossible to get promoted. They recently changed the requirements of getting promoted and it's almost impossible to do so if you're not a superior employee. -Someone took their life while at work. The company did not make mention of this to us at all. I understand that you cannot discuss what happened but they did not say anything. no emails, chats, meetings. nothing. nor did operations stop. They acted as if nothing had happened. In fact, while the CSI was in the back parking lot processing the scene they had an ice cream truck giving out cones in the front of the building. That was the last straw for me. -If you're really good at handling the calls and doing a good job they will hold you back from promotion within or to another department. -Since I've been there for some time I've seen this place get worse and worse as the years went on. It is slowing but surely becoming Convergys

Pros

401k matching of 9% is pretty much unheard of. Pay was competitive. Health Insurance was excellent with low premiums. Annual Bonus of 12% is nice. Free Premium cable and internet services.

Cons

No work from home, even for senior level employees. Management works from home all they like. Business dress for IT employees is unnecessary and uncomfortable. Majority of the employees are contractors. These folks are treated very poorly. They are told that they cannot work more than 40 hours a week, but then are given unrealistic deadlines and pressured greatly by management. Most I knew ended up working 10-20+ extra hours per week that went unpaid. Bonuses of 12% seem good, but in reality these are taxed at more than 40% , as opposed to just a standard tax rate. Building is across the street from a landfill, so it will stink. The road going into the building is always caked with garbage, grime and dust, and your car will never be clean. Who knows what sort of health impacts this could have. Spectrum's products and services are not good. After having their premium cable service for quite a while I can say that it is horrible. I would never pay for it, and it gives me very little confidence in the continued success of the company. The company actively worked to destroy net neutrality. After leaving the company I understand why. They don't want to have to provide people with reasonably priced internet service. They charge nearly $80 a month just for internet, and they are the only game in town! That's more than most people's gas bill.
