Pros

ok benefits and free parking for those who work at their headquarters in Stamford, Ct.

Cons

Very stuffy Corporate culture and lacks diversity; boardrooms are filled with middle aged white men. Not a true reflection of the customers they serve across the country! Feel bad for those corporate professionals who came on board from Time Warner Cable after the merger. Not a place for progressive thinkers or those who thrive in innovative environments.

Pros

Access to health insurance, 401K. Some free or discounted cable, home phone, and internet. Ability to interact with new people.

Cons

Extremely disorganized company. Despite benefits being available, there are a lot of important things that you need to know and consider before enrolling in anything or accepting offer of employment. Health insurance is available but the premiums are high with limited coverage. Long term disability, Fmla, and short term disability are not available until after being employed for at least one year or 1250 hours. Unfortunately if you ever have an emergency, medical illness, etc that requires a leave of absence and you have not been with the company for one year or longer, all vacation and PTO will be used (if enough is accrued and available). If PTO and vacation days aren't available, be prepared to take an unpaid leave of absence up to 30 days if approved. Compensation is relatively lower compared to competitors and you are at the mercy of others to obtain information or access to the tools that are needed to succeed. You are required to sell a minimum amount of Triple Plays per fiscal month (Cable, Internet, and home phone). Charge backs will happen if the customer cancels or downgrades their services within 30-days of installation. If you sell any Double Play (2 services), you will not receive commission for it unless you meet the minimum required quota. You are only paid on in-turf assigned prospects that are installed within that fiscal month or 30 days outside of fiscal month as long as the sales order request is not cancelled. If it is cancelled and rescheduled within one month of working the assigned area, commission paid will be less than if it were installed in-turf during the fiscal month it was assigned. At that point the sale will not count towards required sales quota. The services that are being offered to consumers are hit or miss: some have no issues with service while others constantly encounter numerous outages or other problems that result in cancellations. Good luck with trying to resolve issues because management (supervisor, management, etc) may or may not be available as most are overwhelmed by being overworked or have quit and the position is unfilled. The majority of time you will have to refer the customer to customer service and the hours that they're available are limited.

Pros

Free cable. Average to below average benefits compared to other same size companies. 401k at 6% company match

Cons

I really miss Time Warner Cable. I hate this company, they have taken over for over a year now and there is literally not one change that I can say is positive. I started as a field tech for time warner cable and worked my butt of and was making 7 dollars more within a year and half by taking courses. Charter comes in and completely removes that system and instead of topping it at 20.30 after all the courses you get a whopping 18.00 . Their policy changes in routing for field techs was disasterous to say the least you had techs from the south side passing techs from the north side all the time. This led to extremely late jobs i.e. Going to a customers house at 6 pm and their appointment was at 2. Management would close the pool so jobs just kept getting scheduled. This meant that techs now had to stay late after an already ten hour shift. So leaving he house before 7 am to make it at the first job at 8 and staying till 9 or 10 at night. This led to a mass in techs transferring or outright quitting the job. Instead of learning after shooting themselves in the foot as soon as the routers from San Antonio started to get he hang of it after a year they switched it to Dallas and said look we still have one foot to shoot! Their solution to a short supply of techs is not to look at why techs are leaving and fix it. It's to emolument mandatory overtime so now they are working 13-16 hours a day plus having to work on their days off. I transferred at this point to a no overtime desk job doing tech support. This department is awesome great management that we're with Time Warner. With the strict authoritarian could care less about employees morale direction charter directive it has become very strict. Bringing in more authoritative supervisors and now implementing "training" that will allow us to do sales job as well with no extra pay. After watching the destruction of one department by this company it deeply saddens me to have to watch it again.
