Pros

4 free toys per year

Cons

The first manager I had was great, but he was fired, then replaced with a misogynist butt who hates women. Talks over them, doesn’t take their concerns seriously. He has made me and another colleague cry. Under that new manager, all the employees that were hired under the previous one were mysteriously laid off. One after the other. You’re expected to work during the holidays while everyone else enjoys a paid vacation. Not much was done to make up for the fact we had to work and let me tell you, in consumer care, during the holidays, it is ROUGH. Management gets third-party call centres to help but they are so terrible, it made a lot more work for us. Oh, they’d pay for lunch, wow how thoughtful! But the call and email volume on those days was hell. And you’re expected to work 6 days straight, one year they tried forcing us to do 7 days. They don’t care if you burn out. I was the only rep for French support and I had been yelling for more support, but it took forever for them to listen and hire more people. Micromanaging on speed. If you have any health issues that require you to use the bathroom for more than 2 minutes, you’ll be berated for not waiting for your break, and you’ll be harassed on IM. Even though some specific people on the team were allowed telework, when I requested it due to legit health issues, it was denied, and I was told my work had to be done on the premises. So much ableism. If you have a mental breakdown from all the pressure and abuse from customers, believe me, they’ll get rid of you so quick. They don’t care for the mental well being of their staff. Offering yoga is not helpful, especially when you are told you cannot participate in any of those activities because “we need you on phones”. When they were halfway moving to their new location, I tried to change my schedule because I don’t drive, and subways start at 6am (because we were supporting Europe so some of us had to be there that early), but I was told to find a way to get there on time. I’m not paid enough to afford Ubers every day. Getting promoted is nearly impossible unless you know the founders. Nepotism all around.

Pros

Great collaborative culture among peers with lots of strong talent which is why it’s not a 1 star.

Cons

Cons: At exec level, it’s a boys club who surround themselves with ‘yes’ people and will hire/promote some of the worst managers, directors and VPs I’ve encountered. Management either doesn’t care or understand how to motivate and lead teams. Overall, it’s a truly chaotic environment that will burn you out from the micro-management of the exec team, limited employee recognition, and all the outdated systems/processes to get anything done within the unrealistic timeframe upper management demands.

Toxic blame culture

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

Erm, free toys, charitable work, bagels and the majority of lower management and team members

Cons

Toxic blame culture, awful and blatant nepotism, conflicts of interest at every step, doesn’t stand by any of its values, resourcing problems, work life balance doesn’t exist, thankless and unnoticed work above and beyond what is required, back stabbing, gossip, cliques at every turn, politics and salary
