Pros

The only pro Spin offers is a as resume builder- use the opportunity to gain good short-term experience in a global company and leverage this to step up to higher paid, better roles somewhere else!

Cons

CEOs completely disconnected/unaware of the day to day operations and negative work environment. Immature boys club at the top trickles down to incompetent senior management who are constantly jockeying to win favourites with the upper ranks in order to protect their jobs. You are only treated as number, expect no one to have your back. HR pretends to be working in the employees best interests when in fact they are just the yes men for the senior execs, too distracted by their big annual bonuses to promote any type of change- any messaging regarding promoting company culture and values are a complete farce when you see management in action. Unethical behaviour and talk laced with insensitive racial/gender comments run rampant with no ramifications

Pros

A toy company seems like it would be a fun place to work, meaning other people get excited when you tell them about your job; as time goes on, however, this only makes you more conscious of how truly unhappy it is.

Cons

Like many companies, Spin Master relies on short-term contracts rather than hiring staff full-time and giving people any benefits. The CEOs here seem oblivious to this fact, as seen when the company went public and one declared at a staff meeting that "Everyone gets shares!" Not everyone did get shares, however, just the full-time staff, so it's other ignorant or intentionally hurtful that they would announce this at an all-staff meeting and then repeatedly email everyone to reiterate it. This blind approach to managing their company - ignoring who's doing the work that gets done - with an exclusive focus on corporate goals, means working in overcrowded, inhospitable conditions for long hours and through weekends. And for what?

Pros

They try to have a fun atmosphere with mixed results. You get your birthday off and some free toys at Christmas.

Cons

Culture is out of control - I've never seen so many people who frown when you smile at them in the hallway and then sport a huge smile a second later when a senior person walks by. They're paying the price - turnover is very high - and it doesn't help that they didn't pay a bonus for 2011 (unceremoniously announced via e-mail). Compensation is also very uncompetitive. Even worse, the IT group is very short-sighted - focused mainly on bandaid solutions instead of really solving problems.
