Pros

- Great people. Almost everyone I’ve worked with was wonderful. - Pay is good. Not great, but good. - I’ve been able to grow. From gaining responsibility, to taking steps forward in new roles. There’s a lot of opportunities internally, if you network, work hard and pursue, you’ll work your way up. - I felt a sense of purpose with the work I was apart of. It had direct impact to the business as a whole. - I felt they had a good 401k match (up to 5%) - Good continuing education. Whether it was money towards what you wanted to do, or they offered it via the intranet/learning systems.

Cons

- Not many. But unfortunately, one big enough that drove me out: FOW (future of work) - Future of work was a sr leadership power trip which forced almost every employee back into the office. Even if you had been remote for 10+ years. Even if you were hired as a remote employee, they overturned that and you’re going in. - I was told I’d be someone who needed to be in office more than half my time. Which meant going into the office to sit at a cubical, by myself, with none of my team in the same building (considering we were all hired as remote employees and were scattered across the US) - what purpose did this serve you may ask? There wasn’t one. It was uncalled for and counterproductive. - Leaderships decisions and forceful actions around work locations drove me to leave the company. - Work life balance depends on your team/manager/org. I’ve been worked hard in some roles and been more laidback on others. Not really a con, just fyi.

Pros

Direct team was mostly great. There are developement opportunities if you seek them. They walk the talk for community involvement. Give back/charity programs are great.

Cons

For a healthcare business, the available healthcare benefits are horrible and expensive - between premiums and dedictibles - plan on a good chunk of your salary going to paying for your benefits. When you have over 3000 unfilled roles, pairing someone who's role is being eliminated with a recruiter to find them a new role isn't that difficult - especially when role reduction isn't performance based. Merit raises & bonuses are NOT based on merit or contribution - it's based soley on budget. Even if someone has contributed, is NOT on any written program and hasn't been provided opportunity feedback all year may potentially get a zero bonus or merit because managers are told to NOT give everyone something. It is very demotivating. Not all managers are trained to provide 1:1 coaching throughout the year and will surprise employees so they can justify not providing adequate salary increases & or bonuses. The people who are promoted are typically the ones who speak a good game - they aren't necessarily the strongest people on the teams - they are the ones who don't respond to emails, ignore workloads - but BS upper management the best.

Pros

they allow flexibility in your work schedule

Cons

As a former employee of this company I can attest that Cigna does not have the employees best interest at heart. During a family health crisis this company completely abandoned me as a 10+ year employee. I wrote the CEO, tried to talk to managers and never received the help that I should have to get me thru a cancer diagnosis. This company used all their tools and tricks to deny disability and eventually terminated me from my position. They also lied to unemployment and blocked me from getting unemployment all while dealing with a cancer diagnosis. I absolutely would never recommend Cigna if you want to work for a company that actually will care about you when you need the help. And mental stability? The thing they talk about being so important is absolutely false advertisement.
