I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Medium (New York, NY) in Dec 2020
Interview
I was referred to the company through a external recruiter. I was given a take-home assignment that involved doing something with data structures. I passed that and proceeded to do a virtual on-site that comprised of a behavior interview, a system design interview, and another data structure coding interview.

what would your current managers say are your strengths and weaknesses
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Medium in Aug 2020
Interview
I am familiar with Medium's editorial efforts and was really looking forward to meeting the team. Recruiting team was organized and friendly, and helped to set me up with phone screens and meetings fairly quickly. While I genuinely appreciate the editorial output of Medium, the department head or managers came across fairly inexperience and was probably not responsible for the overall vision and direction. Ultimately, I decided not to proceed with the interview due to a lack of clarity about the role and left with a general unease about Medium's editorial team.

Question 1
I wish I had been asked more thoughtful questions about my work and process by senior executives on the panel. Instead I was asked things like 'how long does something like this take you to make?' which is code for 'we're slave drivers and overwork our team'. I did not get to meet the entire art team, which was a missed opportunity for Medium and for me.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Medium (Mountain View, CA) in Jul 2020
Interview
Referred by a recruiter. Seems like they have the children running the show because that's all that is left there or it's management's way of training them how to interview. I don't think I've ever had more awkward conversations with a company.
While I don't mind being judged by junior devs and managers, they seemed to lack a certain maturity that one becomes accustomed to at other firms. For example, I had to ask one person to turn off their music while I worked on their problem.
Overall this was a huge waste of time between the take home assessment and the 3 rounds of interviews. Reading other reviews, seems like they change up the process a bit, too.
