Pros
The director of my department was fantastic. She trusted me to work independently, didn't try to force me to be someone I'm not, and empathized with my frustration over the bottom-line oriented direction of the company. Coworkers in my department were also great.
Cons
Senior leadership had no connection to its lower staff. They were bad at communicating what was going on, in a time when major staffing cuts were happening. The head of my division of the company was NOT a people person, and seemed baffled when I asked what the company would do to help its employees manage stress and feel rewarded in a very trying time for the company. It became clear that quality was being sacrificed in an effort to cut costs and increase profits. The worst of this was the outsourcing of editing and production work to India. I hated having to communicate with great authors who were frustrated by the company's apparent lack of interest in maintaining the quality of their books.
