Pros

The fact I worked 18 years and had another full time job and I was part time and they gave me an opportunity it was appreciated. The 401k match is decent 100% of the first three percent (3%) of an employee's eligible compensation, and 50% of the next two percent (2%). Mileage Reimbursement. Great systems in place to communicate with customers and follow ups from stores you were at the previous day if you are at another store. They do have bonus opportunities even if you work at other stores you get credits for move ins and reviews. District Managers I interacted with were very professional and flexible but they have a heavy work load. They have decent insurance if your working full time.

Cons

Think your working at one store absolutely not. Part-Time and Full Time employees associates or maintenance they have you run from store to store where other facilities are short 3-4 locations each week. By doing that you have no loyalty or responsibilities to adhere to because the employees jump from store to store. There is no loyalty almost impossible to retain customers and build relationships. So don't expect to be working at the same store unless you are the Manger of the Store If you work part time they expect you to work three 8hr shifts. Be expected to work Holidays. There is no company functions or outings or end of year holiday parties. Company relies on you heavily to deal with the customer if good bad and the ugly comes along break ins, upset customers. People love storage no matter what happens.

Pros

The job itself is a lot of fun. You work in the office and on the property. Getting rentals, cleaning units, calling delinquents, cutting locks, scrubbing floors, dusting, cleaning windows. The open hours are great, 9:30 to 6.

Cons

You will get 2 days off a week as extra space will not pay overtime, but it's actually extra space illegal to have 2 days off together consistently. You have district team leads or DTL's that are supposed to be there to support you in the stores but that does not happen. They are training new hires. As an assistant they will try to have you travel all over the district, some stores being over 20 miles from your home store. You have to have a vehicle as you take the money to the bank. District managers are almost unreachable, and with corporate talk you to death when you ask for assistance. raises are 3% but if you have been there less than 365 days it's a 1%. If you ask about promotions they will say you need to work on yourself first, every time. There is not much of a difference of pay between manager and assistant, maybe 50 cents but bigger portion of monthly bonus. That monthly bonus is $11 per rental split between everyone who had clocked in at the store for the month.
