Don’t fall for the lies

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

I can’t think of any.

Cons

They will draw you in on a growth and advancement speech. Once you get hired, you will start to piece together all of the lies. You will be treated like a child, berated for everything you do, and left to run your location by yourself with little to no help. I was targeted when I asked for help. Management is very disrespectful and tries to turn all employees against each other. People with no idea of what they are doing will get promoted and then tell you how to do something they have little clue about. They preach Integrity, but show very little to the workers on the ground. You will get your schedule less than 36 hours of the next work week. If you complain, you will be targeted.

Assistant Manager

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

Depending where you work most of the times its the people that work with you that make working here worth it. Schedule is decent.

Cons

You are considered to be a store manager even if you are an assistant. They only created the Assistant position available as an excuse to underpay someone. As an assistant you are responsible for the same duties as a store manager and chances are you high that you would be running the store alone as an assistant without help but when it comes to your monthly bonuses you will never get anything back since you dont have the title of a store manager and its extremely hard to get credit for your hard work

Not for me. But some people love it.

Pros

Set work times, Sundays off. Simple job, with growth opportunities. Not micro-managed. Definitely has some scheduling, work-life balance pros, especially if you are used to working retail. Training is specific and thorough on most pieces, but what they miss, they miss big. Health benefits are not fantastic, but adequate. DM has high, clear standards. Very little ambiguity or not knowing where you stand most of the time.

Cons

Heavier sales piece, far less actual management responsibilities than led to believe. Very few women in leadership positions, so very much a man's world. Not employee focused. PTO/sick time is combined, even in states with required sick leave standards. Equates to VERY little PTO, unless you never get sick or work sick. Corporate checks (such as secret shoppers) are not made known during training. The standard that the secret shopper is seeking is not made known. So, the employee could be great, but miss the bullet points and look incompetent on a report that goes to corporate. General disrespect from DM to store level, especially the AM position. He acts as if he is a better person than they are because he is their boss.
