Pros

Competitive salary. Company pays for CIP courses (if you are full time). Ergonomic desks/chairs. Various employee appreciation events. Vendor lunches (Fix Auto, Assured, Carstar etc). Friendly co-workers, overall good company culture.,

Cons

Some work goes unnoticed/unrecognized. In order to further your career and do well in this office, you must stay quiet and maintain your personal achievements. Feedback is expected but not accepted. Opportunity for career advancement is mentioned, but management plays favourites, only advances those within the core circle. Lots of potential, but you must not overly perform, stick to maintaining/reaching the expectations.

I appreciate your thoughtful review. It sounds like you’ve experienced some really positive aspects in your career at Economical, including our great people, healthy culture and work environment, competitive rewards, and some nice appreciation events. I’m glad to hear those things are going well since they’re foundational to our success as a top employer. I noticed some of the areas where you’re less satisfied fall under recognition and feedback. The performance review process is where employees regularly meet with their leaders to share updates on progress toward goals, career development, and how we’re living Economical’s values at work. These discussions can be essential factors in being heard, recognized, and supported as you work toward your goals. Please work with your leader to set up regular discussions.

Going downhill

Pros

Good benefit package and salary. Some managers were nice.

Cons

Micromanagement to the extreme! As an underwriting assistant, you are expected to do the same thing over and over again for the full 8 hours. There is a ton of pressure to meet the targets day in and day out. By ton of pressure I mean that if you do 90 percent or less of what they expect, they'll eventually fire you. You're easily replaceable because they hire and fire in droves. I'm glad I quit when I did.

Pros

Benifits are good pension is good.

Cons

No work life balance. You are expected to work an extra 1/2 hour a day for a day off. Then you are expected to use that day off for all of your appointments. Seniority means nothing. Oppertunities to take courses are based on a lottery system, however you are required to take courses for your performance appraisal. Too many underwriting changes almost daily, left to interpret wordings no clarification given. Very little training, don't invest in their resources.
